Lip Balm Holder

Hello my crafty peeps!

I recently discovered these clever lip balm holders created by Renee O.over on Splitcoast Stampers.  I first saw on Pinterest in Yvette Ashe's blog post from 2007.  Please take a moment to visit both their gallery and blog by clicking on their names here in this post.  They both have a bunch of fabulous 3-D projects, as well as card ideas!

For my Christmas holders I followed Yvette’s dimensions. I liked her dimensions as you can cut five base pieces out of one 8-½” x 11” sheet of cardstock.
Dimensions:
  • 1 – 5-¾” x 2-¾” base piece of Real Red cardstock scored at 2-½” and 3-¼”
  • 1 – 5-¾” x 2-¾” base piece of Whisper White cardstock scored at 2-½” and 3-¼”
  • 1 – 2” x 2” piece of Whisper White cardstock
  • 1 – 2-1/8” x 2-1/8” piece of Basic Black cardstock
  • 13” piece of red or white Ribbon
  • ChapStick Tube
Directions:

  1. Find the center of the Whisper White scored cardstock running lengthwise (top to bottom). The center of this piece is 1-3/8”. With a pencil, draw a 1-¼” line starting from the top score line (it will go past the bottom score line by one half inch.)
  2. Once you have your center line marked, move your ruler over ¼” to the left of the center line. Draw a 1-¼” line starting from the top score line.
  3. Now move your ruler over ¼” to the right of the center line. Draw a 1-¼” line starting from the top score line.
  4. Erase the middle line and use your paper trimmer to cut the two slits by following the two remaining lines.
  5. Decorate the outside of the scored Real Red base, with the Endless Wishes snowflake stamp or any snowflake stamp you may have on hand.
  6. On the 2”x 2” piece of Whisper White cardstock. Stamp the outline of the Snowman in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Colour nose and scarf with markers.
  7. Stamp the words "Merry Christmas" in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
  8. Attach the Real Red base to the Whisper White base by using a strong adhesive (Tear Tape works great).
  9. Insert the ChapStick in the strap. Close the holder by wrapping the Black or White Ribbon around the outside of the holder and tie in a bow.
  10. Attach the Basic Black piece to the Real Red panel over top of the ribbon to hold in place.
  11. Add any bling you want to give it some sparkle, I used some Wink of Stella clear on the snowflakes.

If I can give you just a little inspiration, where you can look at one of my cards and think I can do that, or I could tweak that and put my own spin on it, then I am achieving what I have set out to do!

Happy Friday!

Hello my crafty peeps and happy Friday!

Sorry I haven't posted new projects in awhile as you are aware I am taking a sabbatical from classes but also enjoying some sand and sun in Mexico!

I have been missing looking on Facebook and Pinterest this last week... Lol as well as doing some card projects and sorting out the left over inventory from the craft fair.  I must say though it has been great spending quality time with my hubby and catching up on my reading, I am already into my 4th mystery.

Santa Fry Box

Hello my crafty peeps!

Today I am sharing another project we did last winter, that we have also made for the Bearspaw Christmas Market on November 26th, 2016.

I made very similar to the other treat boxes I made.
  1. Real Red CS cut in half at 5.5", I also die-cut  the belt with Basic Black CS using the Fry Box Die.
  2. Position a 1/2" strip of Basic Black over the center of the box front, and run it through the Big Shot.  To make the Belt Details, adhere the die-cut belt with Fast Fuse or Sticky Strip.  Punch a Petite Curly Label shape or square from Silver Glimmer Paper, then pop up with Dimensionals.  Add a 1/2" square of Basic Black over the center of the buckle with Glue Dots.
  3. To make the Santa we die cut his hair/hat fur with the Wonderful Wreath die on Whisper White CS and the Mustache die. Then we used the large oval punch to cut out his face out of Blushing Bride CS.  Using the Owl punch we also cut out 2 circles for the nose and mouth out of Blushing Bride and a small circle out of Real Red.  If you chose not to use google eyes, you would make the eyes with the Owl punch as well.
  4. Using the 2" circle punch cut out a piece of Real Red CS for the hat which is glued to the back of the Whisper White CS wreath cut out.
  5. Now assemble your face, we started by attaching the mustache with pop up with Dimensionals. Then the nose, mouth and finally the eyes.   We inked the nose, and face to give it some dimension, I also used the Stampin Write marker for some eyebrows.

I hope you like my project, I really enjoyed making it!  Love to see any of your versions...

Christmas Dog Treats

Hello my crafty peeps!!!

I wanted to share these cute little Christmas dog treats. The original idea I saw on Pinterest and on Janet Holmes blog .
Original Photo courtesy of Janet Holmes/Pinterest
These would be perfect for those little furbabies in our lives, stocking stuffers, and even neighbor gifts. These are quick and easy to make!  We will have lots available at the Bearspaw Christmas Market on November 26th, 2016.

I have so many furbabies that happen to be canine not feline that it will work out perfect but I also have some that are of the kitty nature including my own, so I plan on making 2 versions....

I used the Top Note die as the topper and stamped dog with the Bella and Friends stamp set.  I also used a past Paper Pumpkin Kit for the large bones and a stamp from one of my Newton Nooks sets.

Being the crazy cat lady, I have lots of paw stamps, and dog stamps and dies so made a selection of these with different pictures of dogs.

The nice thing is you can purchase organic dog and cat treats or bake your own.

Items Used:
Stamps: Bella and Friends, All about sugar
Paper: Whisper White cs, Cherry Cobbler cs, Old Olive cs,
Accessories: Top Note Die, Scallop punch, circle punch, Cherry Cobbler Ink, Tuxedo Black Memento, Crystal Effects, Wink of Stella

Hope you like and feel inspired to try your own version.  Love to see any of your versions...

Hugs, Karen

Cookie Cutter Christmas & NEW Stitched Shapes Framelits

Hello my crafty peeps,

I know I said I was taking a break from blogging but.... I needed a break from the pressure of making fair items today.  I thought I would make some cards since I am very behind in making and sending.

Today's project I decided to use 3 items from the holiday catalog; Coolie Cutter Christmas, Candy Cane Lane and lastly the NEW Stitched Shapes Framelits from Stampin Up!

I have seen some great cards on Pinterest and take my inspiration from those.  But what I love about the Candy Cane Lane DSP is the colour combination of Real red, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake and lastly Whisper White they are timeless Christmas colours and I just wish we could get beyond January 1st.

Measurements:
  • Crumb Cake card base: 5 1/2 "x 8 1/2", score at 4 1/4 "
  • Early Espresso strip: 5 1/2" x 2 1/4 "
  • Candy Cane Lane DSP strip: 5-1/2" x 2 "
  • Whisper White stitched oval
  • Real Red stitched oval
  • Soft Suede scrap

Directions:
  1. Stamp the Reindeer with Early Espresso or Emboss Powder and punch out with Cookie Cutter Builder Punch. Colour in the nose with Real Red, Stampin Dazzling Diamonds or cover with piece of Red Glitter paper.  We added google eyes for a quirky/cutesty look
  2. Pop the Reindeer on the ovals with Stampin 'Dimensionals. The first layer is a Whisper White oval, the second layer is a Real Red oval cut out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits. (I have always been a fan of the stitched look, so am loving that Stampin' Up! came out with these.)
  3. Lastly stamp your sentiment or go one step further and emboss your sentiment.
Hope you like it!  Happy stamping ...

If I can give you just a little inspiration, where you can look at one of my cards and think I can do that, or I could tweak that and put my own spin on it, then I am achieving what I have set out to do!

Sabbatical from Classes

Hello my crafty friends,

Life serves up a series of choices, and our decisions affect our quality of life — spiritually, mentally, relationship-ally, emotionally and financially.  With this in mind I have decided to take a break from classes as well as tea and crafting.

Each choice leads to another, and another… it's a process of building a life, in which I am happy, less stressed and lastly healthier.

I will continue with my blogging and post photos of my creations, fur-baby family and back garden on Instagram as I feel up to it but for the next 3 - 6 months I will be trying to disconnect.

#MonthInTheLife – A Photo-a-Day Instagram Challenge

Hello my crafty peeps!

I followed along with this Challenge back in August 2014 done by Create & Thrive, and loved it.  So I thought why not do one for all us cardmakers/papercrafters for the month of November. This challenge is for all my crafty peeps; card-makers, artists, and creatives of any type.

I know how much I love seeing behind the scenes of other crafters or as they say creatives’, and I know I’m not alone in that.  Look at how much time we spend on Pinterest
I want to see a month-in-the-life of your work. I want to see your space, your materials, your daily life, your passions. I want to see what motivates you, what your materials look like, and what you DO every day!

Who wants to play along with me?

Instagram #photoaday  #SKMonthinthelife challenge

Jess at Create & Thrive mentioned in her post that if you have an iPhone, you should give Chantelle’s of Fat Mum Slim app – Little Moments – a go for this challenge. (Chantelle was the original inspiration for this challenge)

I have used Jess' reference image from 2014 that lists the challenges for each day. Please feel free to take and share this image on your own Instagram, blogs, and any other social media.
I’ll be posting each day’s prompt on the Stamp with Karen IG account throughout November with a little blurb that explains a little bit about what it is. Most of them are self-explanatory though!

I can't wait to take a peek inside your daily life and see all your craftiness!

Make sure your following us on the Stamp with Karen Instagram account.

If I can give you just a little inspiration, where you can look at one of my cards and think I can do that, or I could tweak that and put my own spin on it, then I am achieving what I have set out to do!

Decisions, decisions what will I do?

Hello my crafty friends,

I am still struggling to decide if I will run my Stampin Up as a business or just go back to crafting when the urge hits, and trying ALL the different types of creative outlets I have been longing to.  I will still blog about all these things and probably more than I do now.  I am finding that my brain does not work the way it use too "sigh" and I am suffering social anxiety on top of everything else so having classes or even crafting with friends is very hard.

Whatever I decide; I hope you will still pop by to check out whats new. For now each day I will showcase something we have made for our first Craft Fair - Bearspaw Christmas Market November 26th at RockPointe Church. #bearspawchristmasmarket

These are little sewing kits we have made, these make great little stocking stuffers.  What woman wouldn't want one for her purse, desk or vehicle.

Forever Evergreen Project Kit

Hello my crafty peeps!

Hope you had a great weekend!   I am off to Vernon this week to spend Thanksgiving with my family.  But I did want to share this video from Stampin' Up! that I happened across, not sure why it took me so long to watch and WANT.

I love Carrie, she always makes the best videos and is one of my very favorite people at Stampin' Up!  (Well really I have a lot of favorites at Stampin' Up!)

Decorate your mantelpiece with festive trees and seasonal decorations. This kit makes three trees in two sizes—one 13" (33 cm) tall, two 11" (27.9 cm) tall—each individually trimmed with handmade ornaments. See for yourself how kits make for easy creativity!
