Mrs. Morris and the Pot of Gold By Traci Wilton

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing "Mrs. Morris and the Pot of Gold" the 6th instalment in the Salem B&B Mystery series by Traci Wilton.  This is my favourite one so far, I just loved it!
Salem, Massachusetts, B&B owner Charlene Morris will need the luck of the Irish—and the help of a ghost—to unveil a hooded killer . . .

Charlene has hired a van to ferry her B&B guests to an all-you-can-eat corned beef and cabbage dinner hosted by Salem’s Irish community at the Ancient Order of Hibernians club—but she should have booked a hearse. It’s never a good sign when the family black sheep drunkenly crashes a party by punching the guy dressed as a leprechaun. But things go from troublesome to fatal when Charlene stumbles upon a second brawl in an upper room—and this fight Connor Gallagher loses, his anonymous assailant rushing past Charlene, hidden by a hoodie.

Now Detective Sam Holden has another homicide on his hands, with Charlene as the only eyewitness. Even if she can’t give the police sketch artist much to go on, Charlene is determined to ID the murderer, with the help of Dr. Jack Strathmore, the charming ghost who haunts her B&B. The answer lies in the motive, and to uncover that sleuth and spook will need to shine a light on Connor’s shady past—before the killer pulls another Irish goodbye . . .
What can I say, so much intrigue this go around and all centered around St. Patrick’s Day.  I love visiting Salem and Charlene’s B&B with its resident ghost Jack and her B&B family. The characters are becoming like family and I’m super happy that what I dreamed would happen with Charlene and Avery is coming to fruition.  I love all the characters Charlene, Jack, Minnie, Sam and Avery and now I find myself adding her mum and dad to the mix.

The mystery was interesting, well plotted, with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing till the very end.  There was sub mysteries to figure out as well, especially surrounding her guest Shaffer.  I’m hoping he pops up again in future stories.  I definitely was surprised by the ending and can’t wait for book 7 to see what happens next!!!

I highly recommend this book to all my cozy lover friends.

I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Kensington Books and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Home is Where the Bodies is by Jody Holford

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing “Home is Where the Body is” by Jody Holford book one in the Wannabe Slueth Mystery series.  I was sad when her Britton Bay series ended so was happy when I heard about the new cozy mystery series, and Jody didn’t disappoint! I found it to be just as enjoyable and entertaining full of loveable characters and felines.  Releases August 2022…

The coastal Oregon town of Rainbow Falls might be sleepy, but it’s definitely not innocent...

When graphic designer and true crime fan Annie Abbott agrees to house sit her parents’ home for a year, she’s convinced that even though the small town has ten coffee shops, nothing exciting will happen. But that’s before a seemingly feral cat gives birth in her garage, prompting a call to the very handsome, very single town vet. It’s a dream meet-cute, but just as their romance blooms, Annie discovers the bloody body of her grumpy neighbor. And despite the fact that she passes out at the sight of blood, the police suspect her.

To clear her name, Annie will need to put her years of watching police procedurals and reading mysteries to good use. She’ll also need to rely on her new friends who have welcomed her to Rainbow Falls, but is one of them the killer?

What a great start to a new cozy mystery series it was engaging and really well-written, with a wonderful small town, seaside setting and excellent characters. As most of you know I love the sea and the way this town was described I was dreaming of living there myself.

The protagonist Annie was intelligent, likeable, and the friends she made were people I would like to hang out with especially Ashley and Stephanie.  I found myself thoroughly enjoying the story and the instant romance whilst trying to figure out the killer.

The mystery was well written and had plenty of suspects who wanted the victim dead.  I did suspect the killer early on but there were a few red herrings so I wasnt 100% sure until close to the end when the final piece fell into place.

I can't wait for the next instalment Homecoming and Homicide!

I highly recommend this cozy mystery series to all my friends who love a cozy with romance thrown in.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from the author and Tule Publishing. All of the above opinions are my own.

Jody Holford writes both contemporary romance and cozy mysteries. She lives in British Columbia with her family.
She's unintentionally funny and rarely on time for anything.

Scrapbooking Retreat July 2022

Hello my friends,

We had quite the weekend at the Delta Hotel here in Calgary during Stampede.

On Friday morning we loaded up our vehicles and headed to the retreat. Was only a 10 minute drive to hotel so super close for me, but Cindy and I still chose to sleepover to make a real girls getaway.

Once we arrived at Camp Croppin we started our set-up. It’s always so much fun to watch everyone setting up, socializing and getting ready for 3 days of fun!
Creative Memories Camp Croppin
Picture it! 30+ women, laughing, yakking and scrapbooking the whole weekend away!

There was great food, we had dinner and breakfast supplied along with treats!
The weekend had a theme around camping and Saturday night we all dressed up.  Cindy found us a s’mores costume and I haven’t laughed this much in a very long time.

Fairy Wives of Windsor by Trixie Silvertale

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing "
Fairy Wives of Windsor" by Trixie Silvertale the 4th instalment in the Paranormal Magical Renaissance Faire Mysteries.   I really enjoy this series and wish it came out more than once a year.

A jolly Faire. A shocking murder. Can this furtive fairy outsmart the killer?

Coriander the Conjurer is trapped in a cursed Renaissance Faire, and it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to her. But this fairy fortune teller veers off course when a corpse turns up in her storage wagon. While her bestie rots in jail for a crime she didn’t commit, the actual murderer walks free…

When a stolen unicorn horn leads her investigation into the protected realm of the Fae, Coriander must make promises that might prove too big to keep. She’ll need the help of a wily vampire, a brilliant blacksmith, and her meddling toad familiar to uncover the real killer. As her helpers disappear one by one, the case spirals out of control.

Can timid Coriander face the terrifying truth, or will her snooping seal a fate worse than death?

Fairy Wives of Windsor is the fourth book in the humorous paranormal cozy series, Magical Renaissance Faire Mysteries. If you like snarky heroines, supernatural misfits, and a splash of romance, then you’ll love Trixie Silvertale’s whirlwind whodunit.

I really enjoyed visiting the cursed Renaissance Faire and catching up with Coriander, Thorny, and Fraxi again. I found it to be a fun read and Cori and her talking toad Thornton are delightful.  The characters are vivid and lively, even when one is a talking toad!

There were plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing on who the culprit was. Overall this was a great paranormal cozy and I hope there will be plenty more to come.

We get a happy ending but know that we will soon revisit this place, and I for one, can’t wait!

I highly recommend this series to all my friends.

I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A Dark and Stormy Tea by Laura Childs

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing “A Dark and Stormy Tea” the 24th instalment in the A Tea Shop Mystery series by Laura Childs. I absolutely love this series!
A possible serial killer on the loose sends tea maven Theodosia Browninginto a whirlwind of investigation in this latest installment ofthe New York Timesbestselling series.

It was a dark and stormy night, but that was the least of Theodosia Browning's troubles. As she approaches St. Philips Graveyard, Theodosia sees two figures locked in a strange embrace. Wiping rain from her eyes, Theodosia realizes she has just witnessed a brutal murder and sees a dark-hooded figure slip away into the fog.

In the throes of alerting police, Theodosia recognizes the victim—it is the daughter of her friend, Lois, who owns the Antiquarian Bookshop next door to her own Indigo Tea Shop.

Even though this appears to be the work of a serial killer who is stalking the back alleys of Charleston, Lois begs Theodosia for help. Against the advice of her boyfriend, Detective Pete Riley, and the sage words of Drayton, her tea sommelier, amateur-sleuth Theodosia launches her own shadow investigation. And quickly discovers that suspects abound with the dead girl’s boyfriend, nefarious real estate developer, private-security man, bumbling reporter, and her own neighbor who is writing a true-crime book and searching for a big ending.

INCLUDES DELICIOUS RECIPES AND TEA TIME TIPS!

I have said this before and I will say it again everything about this series enthrals me! The story had me wrapped up in the goings on of protagonist Theo, the Indigo Tea Shop,  Drayton, and Haley once again, it was like visiting old friends.

A possible serial killer on the loose sends tea maven Theodosia Browning into a whirlwind of investigation

As for the mystery itself I found it suspenseful, intriguing, and well thought out.

Make sure you have a hot cup of tea and a snack when reading as I’m always hungry when I hear Haley’s menus! Good thing there are recipes from the tea shop at the end of the book.

If you are looking for a light, fun read then this series fits the bill.

Murder Spills the Tea by Vicki Delany

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing “Murder Spills the Tea” by Vicki Delany the 3rd instalment in the “Tea by the Sea Mysteries”. Vicki Delany is one of my favourite cozy mystery authors, I’m never disappointed when I pick up one of her books.
Lily Roberts pores over the clues in a piping hot new case when a confrontational celebrity chef is murdered at her Cape Cod tearoom during the filming of a popular baking show in the latest Tea by the Sea mystery from national bestselling author Vicki Delany . . .

The country’s hottest TV cooking show is coming to Cape Cod. And against her better judgment, Lily Roberts is entering America Bakes! with her charming tearoom, Tea by the Sea. Filming is already proving disruptive, closing the tearoom during Lily’s busiest season. But tensions really bubble over when infamous bad-boy chef and celebrity judge, Tommy Greene, loses his temper with Lily’s staff, resulting in an on-camera blowup with Cheryl Wainwright. Just as Lily thinks the competition can’t get more bitter, Tommy is found dead in Tea by the Sea’s kitchen . . . murdered with Lily’s rolling pin.

Suspicion immediately falls on Cheryl, but the temperamental star has racked up plenty of culinary clashes in the past, both on- and off-screen. And nearly anyone associated with Tommy or the show could be the killer: be it one of Lily’s fierce competitors, a member of the beleaguered film crew, or even one of Tommy’s fellow judges—struggling cookbook maven, Claudia D’Angelo or beauty contest winner, Scarlet McIntosh. Now, while she’s baking up a storm for the show, Lily must also whip up an impromptu investigation . . . before the murderer rolls someone else away.

I found myself engrossed in the story and reading in couple days. It was entertaining, full of twists and turns and delectable food.

The mystery is interesting and well plotted, and kept me guessing till the very end.  I love the main character of Lily, her grandmother Rose, Simon, and her BFF Bernie.  Cheryl and her daughter are starting to feel like family not just employees and I like where it’s heading.  Romance is starting to brew with Lily and Simon as well as Matt and Bernie …

I won’t go into detail about the mystery as the book blurb does a wonderful job of it but I will say if you like afternoon tea, the seaside, and a great mystery then this series is for you.   Includes recipes at back of book ... yummy

I highly recommend this series to all my cozy loving friends.

Mother’s Day Murder by Tonya Kappes

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing “Mother’s Day Murder” by Tonya Kappes the 2nd book in her all new series starring Violet Rhinehammer. What a great sequel to book one, I think this is now my favourite out of Tonya’s series.
CELEBRATE GOOD CRIMES!

It's Mother's Day in Holiday Junction and Violet Rhinehammer is covering all the Mother's Day events in the holiday town and not alone! Her mother is in town to see exactly why her daughter decide to stay in the small town instead of coming home to Kentucky to their beloved Daniel Boone National Park.

To say Violet's mother isn't very fond of Violet's new home is one thing and has to defend her issues against some of the leading mothers in Holiday Junction has put Violet in a very hard spot. After all, Violet has been trying to get in the inner circle so she can hear the good gossip since she is writing the anonymous gossip column in Junction Journal.

When a mother in that gossip circles turns up dead, Violet Rhinehammer's mother is Chief Strickland's number one suspect.

Who on earth could do such a thing on Mother's Day? Certainly not Violet Rhinehammer's mother and Violet has to put on her best journalist-investigating skills to the test and solve the murder before mother goes to jail and Violet is again out of a job.

It’s Mother's Day Weekend in Holiday Junction where Violet finds herself investigating the murder as her mother is the number one suspect!  Get ready for some laughs along the way…

There were lots of suspects as well as twists to keep us entertained and guessing. I had no idea who the killer was until Violet did! Also there were a couple of surprises and I can’t wait for the next instalment!

I highly recommend this book and new series to all my cozy loving friends especially if you like stories set around the holidays.

I requested and received an Advanced Readers Copy from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
