Cappuccino Criminal by Tonya Kappes

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing Cappuccino Criminal the12th instalment in the A Killer Coffee Mystery Series by Tonya Kappes.  I was so happy to visit Honey Springs Kentucky again, as I love this series.
Welcome to the Bean Hive Coffeehouse where the coffee and gossip are HOT!

In the quaint town of Honey Springs, the Bean Hive Coffee Shop is the heart and soul of the community, and its vivacious owner, Roxy Bloom, is always ready to serve up a steaming cup of java with a side of gossip. But when a brewing storm of real estate treachery ends with the cold-blooded murder of a local agent, Roxy finds herself in the thick of a frothy whodunit that's anything but decaffeinated.

As always a Tonya’s stories are filled with humour, wonderful characters and a mystery to solve.  I love visiting Honey Springs and the Bee Hive and this time we have a puppy named Jesse from the Pet Palace to love on.

The mystery is interesting and well plotted, I did figure it out before the reveal but that didn’t stop me from going along for the ride.

The story moves at a steady pace, and I had a hard time putting it down thus I finished it in a few hours.  Please note you could read as a stand alone, but you will want to read them all in order.

I cant wait to take another trip to Honey Springs, Kentucky, to see what Roxy and her friends get up to in Macchiato Murder which releases September 28th, 2023.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading cozy mysteries.

I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Cornish Seaside Murder by Fiona Leitch

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing "A Cornish Seaside Murder” the 6th instalment in The Nosey Parker Cozy Mystery series by Fiona Leitch.  I cannot get enough of this series, if you love mysteries set in England this is for you!
Former Met police officer Jodie ‘Nosey’ Parker is working a trial period as an auxiliary Detective Sergeant with the Penstowan police force. But living and working alongside DCI Nathan Withers – while still trying to grow her catering company – brings its own challenges, especially when Jodie’s attention is quickly taken up by the suspicious drowning of a local fisherman.

While tourists and locals alike are falling under the spell of the annual mermaid festival with its captivating legends of Sirens luring fishermen to their deaths, Jodie and Nathan fear they may have found themselves in the middle of a very real – and very dangerous – turf war. As the casualties start to stack up, they must face the likelihood that something sinister has been going on under their noses for some time…

I love visiting Cornwall and Jodie, Daisy, and her mum but let’s not forget about Germaine the Pomeranian! This time we are attending the annual mermaid festival with its captivating legends of Sirens luring fishermen to their deaths.  The description of Jodie dressed as the evil mermaid had me laughing as well as a few other scenes in the book.

The mystery was really interesting, well plotted, and had just enough twists to keep you engrossed and wanting to know what happens next. I really hope there will be a book 7 coming out soon, as I can’t get enough of this series.

I recommend this book to all my cozy lover friends.

I requested and received an Advanced Readers Copy from Harper Collins UK.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Murder Off the Books by Tamara Berry

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing Murder Off the Books by Tamara Berry the 3rd instalment in the "By the Book Mystery" series.
Author Tess Harrow and her daughter, Gertrude, are starting to get a bad reputation due to their involvement in recent murder cases, so Tess has come up with the perfect plan to drum up some positive press. She'll combine her new book release and her bookstore opening into one big event, giving her a chance to wine and dine the locals and some big press contacts. But the night before the party, Tess is greeted by a surprise: her mother has come for a visit, with her much-younger new boyfriend in tow...a boyfriend Gertrude recognizes as the notorious Levi Parker, a man recently connected to the deaths of three elderly widows.

Tess immediately alerts Sheriff Boyd about the visitor, but it's already too late. Levi Parker is found dead and Tess's mother is starting to look like the prime suspect. Bernadette swears she didn't murder Levi, and Tess is doing her best to maintain her mother's innocence, but too many coincidences keep stacking up. With the whole town seemingly against her family, it's up to Tess to get to the bottom of the story before it's too late.
I really enjoyed visiting Winthrop, Washington and the seeing how Tess and Gertie were making out in the woods. I enjoy Gertie and now we have her mom Bee who’s a hoot!

I like the budding romance between Tess and Sheriff  Boyd too.

It was entertaining, full of twists and turns and I didn’t completely guess whodunnit until Tess did.

I highly recommend this series to all my cozy loving friends and I can’t wait for book 4!

The Diva Delivers on a Promise by Krista Davis

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing “The Diva Delivers a Promise ” the 16th instalment in the Domestic Diva Mystery series by Krista Davis.
In a delicious new Domestic Diva Mystery from New York Times bestselling author Krista Davis, entertaining guru Sophie Winston is coordinating a convention for ghost kitchens in Old Town, Alexandria–and trying to keep a killer from making a deadly delivery…

Sophie is busy handling the first ever convention of the Association of Ghost Kitchens—restaurants that do delivery only—but she’s taking a little time out for a lunch meeting organized by A Healthy Meal. The group is dedicated to providing meals for children in need, and as a bonus, it’ll give Sophie the perfect opportunity to ogle the lavish Old Town home of socialite Geraldine Stansfield. Gerrie’s dining room is impeccably furnished, the table laden with gleaming crystal and prized china. If it weren’t for the dead man lying on the floor, everything would be perfect...

No one knows the victim—or at least, no one claims to. But a little snooping by Sophie reveals links to many local notables. In fact, not only was he a client of Geraldine’s late husband, an attorney—every member of the Stansfield clan knew the deceased. But only one knows what he was doing in Gerrie’s house.

Gerrie’s elegant abode looks spotless, but there’s plenty of dirty linen in those family closets. Now Sophie will have to get the killer to come clean before he spoils another appetite—for good...
I really enjoy this series!   I really like Sophie, she is relatable, interesting and I love her relationship with her BFF Nina and her ex Mars as well as several other residents of Old Town. I liked how the characters were there for each other, no matter what was happening. Also I’m wondering what’s happening with Mars and Sophie…

The mystery itself was interesting, full of twists and turns, red herrings all of which completely drew me into the story.   I didn’t want to put the book down and read it till the wee hours.

I highly recommend this book to all my cozy mystery loving friends.

Spring Break Slaying by Jody Holford

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing “ Spring Break Slaying” by Jody Holford book 3 in the Wannabe Sleuth Mystery series.  I found it to be just as enjoyable as the previous two books and entertaining full of loveable characters that I like to call friends.  Releases May 23rd

What happens on spring break stays on spring break…except murder.

It’s spring break in Rainbow Falls and true crime aficionado Annie Abbott is hoping to cater to the hoards of college kids descending on her coastal town by hosting a Gatsby-themed murder mystery party. She’s hoping her twenties era whodunnit at a local historic mansion will increase tourist revenue and build her business’s brand.

The party is the talk of the town when a despised social media influencer is attacked and left for dead on the estate’s grounds. With the help of her online friends, Annie searches for clues. The list of suspects reads like the town’s social directory—but who benefits most from the victim’s silence?

Annie’s parents are due home from their year-long adventure, so her time in Rainbow Falls is winding down. With a growing suspect list and tension among her friends, Annie worries about her own future. Should she settle in Rainbow Falls? Do she and Ben, her boyfriend and the town vet, have a future? Will she live long enough to find out?
This was an exciting read all the way through, and I read in one sitting. I enjoyed catching up with Annie and Ben as well as all of the side characters in Rainbow Falls.  I would like to hang out with these characters especially the “Undercover Sleuths”.  I found myself thoroughly enjoying the story and the romance between Ben and Annie.

The mystery was well written and had plenty of suspects who wanted the victim dead.  I did not suspect the killer at all! There were a few red herrings but I was totally engrossed in what was happening.

I can't wait for the next instalment!

I highly recommend this cozy mystery series to all my friends who love a cozy with romance thrown in.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from the author and Tule Publishing. All of the above opinions are my own.

Jody Holford writes both contemporary romance and cozy mysteries. She lives in British Columbia with her family.
She's unintentionally funny and rarely on time for anything.
When picking up her titles, you can expect a little heat and a lot of heart.  If she's not writing, you'll find her reading, doodling, or drinking Diet Pepsi.

Give Fudge a Chance by Nancy Coco

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing “Give Fudge a Chance“ the 11 instalment in the  Candy-Coated Mystery series by Nancy Coco.  I really love this series and visiting Mackinac Island!
It’s summertime along Michigan’s beautiful Lake Huron, and sleuth extraordinaire Allie McMurphy is determined to win this year’s fudge competition at the annual Mackinac County Fair. But will a funhouse murder sour her plans?

FORECAST: FAIR WITH A CHANCE OF MURDER . . .

The Mackinac County fair is in full swing, and the air is rich with the scent of funnel cakes and the sound of carnival rides. Allie is focused on the fudge competition—another win would really put her hotel and fudge shop on the map. But she’s willing to take a little break and walk through the haunted house attraction with her friend Jenn.

When they come across a body, though, it turns out not to be a prop. Soon Allie’s cop boyfriend is on the scene, and the sleuthing confectioner is hunting for clues. Danger strikes too close to home when the hotel becomes the scene of a suspicious fatal accident, and Allie suspects the two deaths are connected. The case is turning into a real rollercoaster. Allie will need to hold on tight . . .
I found myself engrossed in the story and reading in a day.   The mystery is interesting and well plotted, and I loved the characters which are well developed. I especially love little Mal which reminds me of my little Lindi.  I loved how Mal and Melba played a big part in this story. I think this might be my favourite book in the series but I say that every time.

I kept guessing and second-guessing myself on whodunnit right to the very end. I did figure out who the villain was shortly before Allie did.

I recommend this book to all my cozy lover friends and can’t wait for the next instalment “Three Fudges and a Baby” to come out!

I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Kensington Books and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Cruise by Caroline James

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing “The Cruise” by Caroline James. What can I say other than I really enjoyed it and read in one day.  Who doesn’t want to escape on a cruise with a couple of old friends.
Three women.
One widowed.
One unmarried.
One almost divorced.
All aged 63, but not ready to give up on life!

Leaving behind the heartache, guilt and disappointment of their real lives, three friends decide that now they’re in their sixties, it’s time they finally did something for themselves!

Swapping Christmas turkeys and BBC reruns for crystal waters, white sandy beaches and smooth golden rum, Anne, Jane and Kath throw caution (and tradition) to the wind as they set sail on a luxury two-week Christmas cruise around the Caribbean.

Will the three friends find the comfort and joy they seek aboard the Diamond Star?
When I read the blurb about 3 women in their 60s setting off on a cruise, I knew I had to read this book, especially as I’m almost there myself.  The Cruise is the first book I have read by Caroline James and I can definitely say it won’t be my last.

I found the characters to be well developed, and multi-dimensional.  It’s about being true to yourself,  losing you insecurities and making new friends along the way, what a delightful read.

I will definitely read other books by this author.
I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from One More Chapter and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
