Murder at the Blueberry Festival by Darci Hannah

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing “Murder at the Blueberry Festival ” by Darci Hannah the 3rd instalment in the "A Beacon Bakeshop Mystery" series.  I loved visiting Beacon Harbor, Michigan again and really want to visit the area now!

Living in a lighthouse with her dog, Lindsey Bakewell is lulled to sleep at night by the sound of Lake Michigan’s waves—and gets up at the crack of dawn to start the day at her bakery cafĂ©.  But someone in Beacon Harbor is about to rock the boat with murder…

After a career on Wall Street, Lindsey is making a different kind of dough in a pretty lakeside village, and the upcoming blueberry festival—including the pie-eating contest her bakery is hosting—is the highlight of the summer. But soon Beacon Harbor runs into a patch of trouble.

A local real estate agent gets pranked. A parade float gets pelted with water balloons. It’s all laughed off until the stunts start escalating—and looking more like sabotage. As the event turns into a debacle complete with rampaging goats, Lindsey’s sweetheart, a former SEAL, starts investigating. But the juicy mystery takes a bitter turn when a man—dressed up as a Viking—is found dead in a boat, and it’s no longer mischief but murder…

I love this series,  Lindsey and her co-workers at the Beacon Bakeshop are lots of fun to hang out with.  Enter Rory the ex Navy Seal and the rest of the small town and you have  the makings of a community you want to belong to.  I enjoyed seeing how the characters of Lindsey, her parents and Kennedy lives have progressed since the last book and look forward to learning more about the townsfolk etc.

I love furbabies in my cozies, so when you throw in a goat named Clara into the mix along with a Newfie named Wellington and the “Models” two Westies … (awww)  I hope we see Clara in other books

It was entertaining, full of twists and turns and I didn’t completely guess whodunnit until  Lindsey did.  Plus all the descriptions of the blueberry baked goods made my mouth water. ( recipes included in back of book)

I highly recommend this series to all my cozy loving friends and I can’t wait for book 4!

I requested and received an advanced readers copy from Kensington and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my OWN.

Rangers, Rvs, & Revenge by Tonya Kappes

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing “Rangers, Rvs, & Revenge” the 26th instalment in the "Camper & Criminals “ Mystery series by Tonya Kappes.  I absolutely love this series, and can’t get enough of the Laundry Club Ladies and Mae West.
Welcome to Normal where nothing is normal!

As we say in the south beauty is only skin deep but ugly...now that runs straight to the bone.
When Miss Daniel Boone Days is murdered and our good friend Helen Pyle, owner of Cute-icles beauty salon is standing over our beauty queen with a gun, lets just say Helen didn't giddy up on out of there.
Nope. She was hauled down to the sheriff's department and booked for murder.
Ranger Tucker Pyle is taken off the case because let's just say he knows his Aunt Helen didn't do it, but who better to snoop around to help him out?

Yep! You guessed it!

The Laundry Club Ladies and Mae West once again find themselves with their sleuthing notebook in hand and get all gussied up to find out just who is behind the murder.

After all everyone has beauty but not everyone sees it.
In this instalment we have the ladies and Hank trying to solve who murdered the Beauty Queen during Daniel Boone Days! Dottie cracks me up even more than usual with her antics sitting on the dunk tank at the festival.  What a hoot her and  Beck Greer were having taunting people to toss a ball for charity.  I loved this one “Her little dog, Fifi, can throw a bone better than you throwing that ball!”

The  mystery was good, with several suspects and a few red herrings thrown in.

I’m full of anticipation/excitement for Book 27  Campfires, Courage, & Convicts as I want to know more about what’s in store for Mae and Hank… (coming August 25, 2022)

I highly recommend you read this series from the beginning and enjoy the escapism as much as I do.

I requested and received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my OWN.

No Parm No Foul by Linda Reilly

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing "No Parm No Foul
” the 2nd instalment in A Grilled Cheese Mystery series by Linda Reilly set in the town of Balsam Dell, Vermont. What a great follow up to book one!  This is definitely one of my favourite series.
The second book in a delicious culinary cozy series-the muensters have arrived in Balsam Dell in this Halloween cozy mystery featuring a grilled cheese shop owner turned amateur sleuth

After a long hot summer in Balsam Dell, Carly Hale is ready for crisp Vermont weather and gourmet grilled cheeses at her Grilled Cheese Eatery. And the upcoming Halloween food competition is the perfect way to impress the locals.

But Ferris Menard, the owner of Sub-a-Dub-Sub, is nursing a serious grudge against Carly. Two days before the competition, one of Carly's employees quit his part-time gig at Menard's sub shop, sending Menard into a serious snit. In a confrontation at the Eatery, Menard accused Carly of sabotage and vowed to bring her down.

That's when Menard's body is found in his kitchen the morning after the competition, a steak knife sticking out of his heart. But Menard had a slew of enemies, and if Carly doesn't figure out which one is the culprit, she might find herself-or someone she cares about-serving grilled cheese sandwiches under lock and brie!
I like the Protagonist Carly,  and her co-workers Grant and Suzanne they have such a tight bond and really care about each other. The characters are well developed and I look forward to seeing how Carly’s relationship with Ari progresses as well as other relationships in the book.   I liked getting to know Evelyn Fitch the retired school teacher and one of Carly’s regulars as well.

The mystery was interesting and there are plenty of red herrings, and  twists to keep you wanting to find out what will happen next.

I read the book in one day it was that good, You will crave a grilled cheese and tomato soup while reading the book.  Luckily there are recipes at the back, I'm dying to try the Alvin’s Panko Perfection!

I cant wait for the third instalment.  I highly recommend this to cozy lovers.

I requested and received an Advanced Readers Copy from Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Death of an Ice Cream Scooper by Lee Hollis

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing “Death of an Ice Cream Scooper ” by Lee Hollis the 15th instalment in the Haley Powell Food and Cocktails Mystery series which releases on July 26, 2022.

Food and cocktails columnist Hayley Powell is back on the case in Bar Harbor, Maine when her friend and owner of a gourmet ice cream shop finds that her husband may be a cheater and a killer...

Food and cocktails columnist Hayley Powell doesn’t know what to believe when Lydia Partridge, the put-together owner of gourmet Bar Harbor Ice Cream, suddenly reveals fears that her husband may be having an affair. There’s no other way to explain why Jamie, a respected professor, was spotted in a remote part of town with a much younger woman. But instead of learning the truth about the secret meeting, Lydia opens her freezer truck to find another surprise—the dead body of a summer employee...

The shock continues as photographic evidence proves Jamie was spending time off campus with the victim, one of his students. Now, Lydia desperately needs Hayley to discover if Jamie really is a cheater—and, worse, a ruthless killer. With her own complicated family issues to address, can Hayley make sense of a popular college girl’s love life and out the true culprit before the case, or another person, goes cold?

I love this series, the stories always catch my attention and pull me in right away.  This instalment was no different I read over a few hours.

I suspected the murderer but didn’t fully guess until Haley did. This was a great mystery filled with lots of twists and turns. Haley, Liddy and Mona find their long friendship tested but not to worry the strength of time wins in the end.  I enjoyed the surprise ending and hope we see more of Mackenzie.

Plus the ice cream recipes just in time for summer!

I highly recommend this series to all my cozy loving friends !

Twisted Tea Christmas by Laura Childs

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing Twisted Tea Christmas the 23rd instalment in the ”A Tea Shop Mystery” series by Laura Childs. I love this series and I enjoy reading about Theo, Drayton, Haley and Earl Grey.

An attack on the host of a fancy tea party sends Theodosia Browning looking for answers in the latest entry in the New York Times bestselling series.

Tea maven Theodosia Browning and her tea sommelier, Drayton Conneley, are catering a Victorian Christmas party at a swanky mansion in downtown Charleston. Drucilla Heyward, the hostess, is one of the wealthiest women in town.

As the champagne flows and the tea steeps, Drucilla is so pleased with the reception by her partygoers that she reveals her secret plan to Theodosia. The Grande Dame has brought the cream of Charleston society together to reveal that she is planning to give her wealth away to various charitable organizations. However, before she can make the announcement, Theodosia finds her crumpled unconscious in the hallway. It looks like the excitement has gotten to the elderly woman--except that there is a syringe sticking out of her neck.

INCLUDES DELICIOUS RECIPES AND TEA TIME TIPS!
What a great Christmas cozy mystery, don’t get me started on the descriptions of the decorations and all the fancy teas Theo, Drayton and Haley were putting on.  I would love to visit the Indigo Tea Shop and Charleston during the week leading up to Christmas.  The story had me wrapped up in trying to solve who killed Miss Drucilla from the get go.

There were lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing and I didn’t know who the killer was till just before Theo did.

We not only had a White Christmas tea and a Nutcracker tea in this story we also had a Victorian Illumination Tea. I’m always craving a scone with Devonshire cream and jam while reading as the descriptions Haley’s menus sound so yummy.  Good thing there are recipes from the tea shop at the end of the book.

If you are looking for a light, fun read then this series fits the bill. Highly recommend to all my cozy mystery loving friends.

A Hint of Mischief by Daryl Wood Gerber

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing “A Hint of Mischief ” by
Daryl Wood Gerber  the 3rd instalment in “A Fairy Garden Mystery" series.  I think this was my favourite so far, I love catching up with Courtney, Fiona her righteous fairy, Joss and Meagan and Pixie. Plus I love all the recipes at the back of the book!
From Agatha Award-winning author Daryl Wood Gerber, the third in an enchantingly whimsical series featuring Courtney Kelly, the owner of a fairy-gardening and tea shop in Carmel, California. It’s a special place brimming with good vibes and the kind of magical assistance its proprietor will need to prepare for an old sorority sister’s birthday bash awhile solving a puzzling murder!

Courtney has thrown a few fairy garden parties—for kids. But if a local socialite is willing to dip into her trust fund for an old sorority sister’s fortieth birthday bash, Courtney will be there with bells on. To make the job even more appealing, a famous actress, Farrah Lawson, is flying in for the occasion, and there’s nothing like a celebrity cameo to raise a business’s profile.

Now Courtney has less than two weeks to paint a mural, hang up tinkling windchimes, plan party games, and conjure up all the details. While she works her magic, the hostess and her girlfriends head off for an indulgent spa day—which leads to a fateful facial for Farrah, followed by her mysterious death. Could the kindhearted eyebrow waxer who Farrah berated in public really be the killer, as the police suspect? Courtney thinks otherwise, and with the help of her imaginative sleuth fairy, sets out to dig up the truth behind this puzzling murder . . .

I found the story to be very entertaining as well as full of twists to keep you guessing till the very end. I’m also liking where things are going between Courtney and Brady …

I’m anxiously awaiting for the next instalment as I want to know if Fiona gets her wings as well as learn more about the other fairies as it seems lots of people have them even if they can’t see them.

I highly recommend this series to all my cozy loving friends.

Donut Disturb by Ellie Alexander

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing "Donut Disturb" the 13th instalment in the A Bakeshop Mystery series by Ellie Alexander. It releases on June 28, 2022.
The filling is looking grim for pastry chef and amateur sleuth Juliet Capshaw in Donut Disturb, the next in Ellie Alexander's beloved Bakeshop Series.

Love is in bloom in Ashland, Oregon. The Shakespearean hamlet is bursting with fresh spring energy. Fragrant lilacs and the sweet aroma of vanilla cake fill the air as everyone in town gathers at Lithia Park for the celebration of the year—Thomas and Kerry’s wedding.

It’s a picture perfect day. Guests gather on picnic blankets in front of the bandshell to watch Kerry walk down the aisle and wed Ashland’s favorite detective in training, Thomas. Jules and her team at Torte have been tasked with catering the outdoor reception and everything is going according to plan, until a wedding crasher shows up.

The uninvited guest isn’t just someone looking to score a free glass of champagne. It’s Kerry’s estranged father who is supposed to be behind bars. Kerry is distraught. Jules vows to do everything she can to make sure that there are no other surprises on her friend’s big day. But when the bassist for Heart Strings, the wedding band, is found stabbed with the blunt end of his instrument Jules’s promise takes on new meaning. Now she’ll have to slice through the five tiered cake and a bevy of potential suspects in order to track down a killer before they turn the knife on her.
I really enjoyed this story, with the wedding, graduation and summer approaching in Ashland but then to throw in a Murder the morning of the wedding!

Visiting Torte and Ashland is like coming home to old friends and family lots of fun with a bit of chaos thrown in for good measure.  Jules and Carlos have found their place, home and family of friends and now is it time to expand their family...  Needless to say I cant wait for the next book.

The mystery is interesting and well plotted, and there were just enough twists and turns to keep you guessing.   Don’t get me started on the descriptions of all the desserts, drinks and food, I think I gain weight every time I read one of Ellie’s books. I like that recipes are included in back of the book too

I recommend this book to all my cozy lover friends.

I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from St. Martin's Press and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lady of Bones by Carolyn Haines

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing  "Lady of Bones" by Carolyn Haines the 24th instalment in the "A Sarah Booth Delaney Mystery" series which releases on June 14th.
Carolyn Haines's Lady of Bones is the next novel in the series that Kirkus Reviews characterizes as “Stephanie Plum meets the Ya-Ya Sisterhood” featuring sassy Southern private investigator Sarah Booth Delaney.

It’s Halloween season in Mississippi as Sarah Booth and the gang gather to decorate and gush over Tinkie’s new baby, Maylin. Sarah Booth is just about to refresh the cocktails when she hears a knock on the door and opens it to find a woman named Frankie, distraught at the disappearance of her daughter Christa, a young journalist. Christa had been investigating the disappearance of young women in New Orleans over a five-year period—one every year around Halloween. Now Christa herself is missing, and Frankie fears it may be connected to a cult based in the Garden District, called People of Eternity.

People of Eternity are known to have far-reaching connections which Frankie worries may reach as high as law enforcement. Refusing to contact the authorities, she turns to Delaney Detective Agency as her only hope.

Despite initial reservations, Sarah Booth accepts the case, which takes her on a journey to a secret underworld of beguiling cult leaders, witchcraft, and potentially human sacrifice. She’ll have to keep her wits about her if she wants to crack this case…and make it home alive.

I always enjoy visiting with Sarah and Tinkie it’s like coming home to old friends.  Sarah Booth is a strong and intelligent protagonist and all the characters are fully developed. I  liked that it was a glimpse into human trafficking/abduction,  and the overall occult feeling in NOLA especially during Halloween.

The inclusion of her haint (Dahlia House's ghost Jetty) always brings a chuckle as i can imagine what Sarah looks like talking to herself.  Although Jetty seemed to be out to scare Sarah more than anything this time.

There were plenty of twists and turns and lots of suspects to choose from to keep you intrigued.  I found this book to be a real page-turner, suspenseful, read that had me second guessing up till the end.

I’m looking forward to the next instalment Bones of Holly where Sarah Booth and Tinkie, along with baby Maylin, are in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi for Christmas this year, as judges for the annual library tree decorating contest. Releasing in October 2022.

I highly recommend this book and series to all my cozy mystery friends.

Haunted Hibiscus by Laura Childs

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing Haunted Hibiscus the 22nd instalment in the ”A Tea Shop Mystery” series by Laura Childs. I love this series and I enjoy reading about Theo, Drayton, Haley and Earl Grey.

Tea maven Theodosia Browning brews up trouble in the latest Tea Shop Mystery from New York Times bestselling author Laura Childs.

It is the week before Halloween and Theodosia Browning, proprietor of the Indigo Tea Shop, and her tea sommelier, Drayton, are ghosting through the dusk of a cool Charleston evening on their way to the old Bouchard Mansion. Known as the Gray Ghost, this dilapidated place was recently bequeathed to the Heritage Society, and tonight heralds the grand opening of their literary and historical themed haunted house.

Though Timothy Neville, the patriarch of the Heritage Society, is not thrilled with the fund-raising idea, it is the perfect venue for his grandniece, Willow French, to sign copies of her new book, Carolina Crimes & Creepers.

But amid a parade of characters dressed as Edgar Allan Poe, Lady Macbeth, and the Headless Horseman, Willow's body is suddenly tossed from the third-floor tower room and left to dangle at the end of a rope. Police come screaming in and Theodosia's boyfriend, Detective Pete Riley, is sent to Willow's apartment to investigate. But minutes later, he is shot and wounded by a shadowy intruder.

Timothy begs Theodosia to investigate, and shaken by Riley's assault, she readily agrees. Now, she questions members of the Heritage Society and a man who claims the mansion is rightfully his, as well as Willow's book publisher and her fiancé, all while hosting a Sherlock Holmes tea and catering several others.

But the Gray Ghost holds many secrets, as do several other key suspects, while this murder mystery plays out on the eve of Halloween.

INCLUDES DELICIOUS RECIPES AND TEA TIME TIPS!
I have said this before and I will say it again everything about this series enthrals me! The story had me wrapped up in the goings on of protagonist Theo, the Indigo Tea Shop,  the Historical Society, Drayton, and Haley once again, it was like visiting old friends.  As for the mystery itself I found it intriguing, and well thought out.

We not only had a Sherlock tea and a Enchanted Garden tea in this story we also had a Haunted House.  I’m always hungry while reading as we hear Haley’s menus! Good thing there are recipes from the tea shop at the end of the book.

If you are looking for a light, fun read then this series fits the bill.
