Four Leaf Felony by Tonya Kappes

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing “Four Leaf Felony” by Tonya Kappes the first book in her all new series starring Violet Rhinehammer.

CELEBRATE GOOD CRIMES!

Holiday Cozy Mystery Series is a spin off of Tonya Kappes's popular A Camper and Criminals Cozy Mystery Series! You do not want to miss Violet Rhinehammer's journey and some appearances from our beloved Laundry Club Ladies and favorite characters from A Camper and Criminals Cozy Mystery crossover series!

Smiling eyes aren't shining upon Violet Rhinehammer!

Violet Rhinehammer finally got the call! She's been working so hard in her hometown of Normal, Kentucky as a reporter for Channel Two News and the Normal Gazette to get the national attention to she believes she rightfully deserves!

Now is her time! Violet got an interview of a lifetime with a huge national news network. It didn't take her long to pack her bag and hop on an airplane leaving Normal, Kentucky behind!

While in flight she was so busy dreaming about her opportunity. The passenger sitting next to Violet yammered on and on about her grandchildren, Violet had to use her southern manners to excuse herself to the bathroom after the woman gave Violet a headache.

After all, Violet had to keep her head in the game because she was determined to get the job so she didn't have to go back to her small hometown.

Violet's moment of bathroom silence quickly turned to chaos after she found a dead body in the airplane bathroom causing the pilot to make an emergency landing in the small town Holiday Junction.

The NTSB has grounded any flights leaving in or out of Holiday Junction and every passenger is considered a suspect which means Violet Rhinehammer is stranded until the murder is solved. Y'all know Violet! She's not going to sit on her laurels, she's using her keen journalist skills and possibly a little help from the Laundry Club Ladies from Normal, Kentucky to solve the crime.

After all, she's got to show up for her big interview and her dream job is slipping through her hands.

It’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival in Holiday Junction where Violet finds herself stranded due to a dead body being found on her flight. While the investigation into the murder is happening Violet can’t let the opportunity slip by to do some investigating of her own…

There were lots of suspects as well as twists to keep us entertained and guessing. I had no idea who the killer was until Violet did! Also there were a couple of surprises and I can’t wait for the next instalment!

I highly recommend this book and new series to all my cozy loving friends especially if you like stories set around the holidays.

I requested and received an Advanced Readers Copy from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my little blog!

No Farm No Fowl By Julie Anne Lindsey

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing “No Farm No Fowl” book 1 in the Thelma & Luisa Mysteries by Julie Anne Lindsey. OMG I love her new series featuring Thelma a Polish Chicken!   I can see this being another hit, Julie is already one of my favourite authors and per usual I was not disappointed.

It’s out of the frying pan and into the fire for Thelma and Louisa in this new farm to fun cozy mystery series!

Polish chicken breeder Louisa Eggers and her beloved hen, Thelma, are enjoying life sunny side up in their earthy cottagecore community of Meadowbrook. Friends and neighbors can’t get enough of Louisa’s special breakfast recipes, and she has high hopes of feathering her nest with income from the budding egg enterprise.

But when a local naysayer, seemingly determined to bring bad press to Louisa’s community, lifestyle, and cafĂ© is found dead with a belly full of her quiche, and the coroner crows murder, all eyes turn to Louisa for an explanation.

To save their business and reputation, Thelma and Louisa lay a plan to find the killer. Can they crack this case before it’s too late? Or will they find themselves in a heaping helping of trouble?
I LOVED this book! I was left smiling once again and didn’t want to leave this happy place. I like how the author ties it to her other series and I hope we have a joint investigation in the future between Luisa and Bonnie.

I found the characters (both human and feathered) a delight to read about and the setting of Meadowbrook in Cromwell, Georgia was so charming and fun.

The mystery is well-written and plotted. There are several red herrings and twists to keep the reader engaged.  I suspected the killer halfway through but then changed my mind, as there were other viable suspects.

I look forward to reading all the books in the series and highly recommend to all my cozy mystery loving friends.

I voluntarily agreed to read a digital copy of this book supplied by the Author. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.

When the Crow's Away by Auralee Wallace

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing "When the Crow’s Away" by Auralee Wallace the 2nd instalment in the Evanfall Witches B&B Mystery series. I absolutely loved it! What a great follow up to book one.
The ghost of a recently deceased chocolatier believes he was murdered, and it's up to young witch Brynn Warren to use her magical gifts and old-fashioned sleuthing skills to find out how he really met his bitter end in this enchanting new Evenfall Witches B&B Mystery.

After spending months unable to use her powers, Brynn Warren is once again using her gift and working at her family's bed-and-breakfast. Her heart is full, and although one of her aunts wonders if it might be a little more full with a bit of romance in her life, Brynn is certain that finding love again is not in her future. In fact, she can’t imagine anyone being more certain of anything…except for maybe, the recently deceased Mortimer Sweete. He’s certain he’s been murdered, and he wants Brynn’s help to bring his killer to justice.

Mort is positive he knows who killed him: his business partner's wife, Cookie, who had been trying to get them to sell the candy shop for months. But Brynn doesn't share his conviction. After all, the coroner ruled his death natural causes, and Mort did have health problems in life. But with Cookie putting up a For Sale sign for the shop already, Brynn knows she can't just let it go.

Trying to solve a might-be murder while attempting to stop her aunt from meddling in her personal life seems like a recipe for disaster. If Brynn wants to bring Mort's spirit peace, she'll have to rely on all her skills—both magical and mundane—to uncover the truth.

Oh my goodness, I love Dog the crow and how he was a big part of the story.  Brynn learns more about her aunts and Gideon with respect to their first loves, and moving on with one’s life.  I read in one day again much like book one I was pulled into the story right away.

I really enjoyed this book, there was Mystery as well as Magic! There were lots of twists, turns and I did not figure out whodunnit until Brynn did.

I highly recommend to fellow Cozy Mystery fans who enjoy a bit of magic and paranormal thrown in. Cant wait for book 3!

. I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Berkley and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

In the Company of Witches Auralee Wallace

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing "In the Company of Witches" the first instalment in Auralee Wallace’s new Paranormal Cozy Mystery series. I was first drawn to the book by the cover but then a few friends read it and highly recommended, so I bought in Paperback. I’m not sure why I waited so long to read as I loved it!  I was approved to read an arc of book 2 which releases next month, so I will be reading first thing in the morning.
When a guest dies in the B&B she helps her aunts run, a young witch must rely on some good old-fashioned investigating to clear her aunt's name in this magical and charming new cozy mystery.

For four hundred years, the Warren witches have used their magic to quietly help the citizens of the sleepy New England town of Evenfall thrive. There's never been a problem they couldn't handle. But then Constance Graves--a local known for being argumentative and demanding--dies while staying at the bed and breakfast Brynn Warren maintains with her aunts. At first, it seems like an accident...but it soon becomes clear that there's something more sinister at work, and Aunt Nora is shaping up to be the prime suspect.

There's nothing Brynn wants more than to prove Nora's innocence, and it hurts her to know that even two years ago that might have been easier. Brynn, after all, is a witch of the dead--a witch who can commune with ghosts. Ghosts never remember much about their deaths, but Constance might remember something about her life that would help crack the case. But Brynn hasn't used her powers since her husband died, and isn't even sure she still can. Brynn will just have to hope that her aunts' magic and her own investigative skills will lead her to answers--and maybe back to the gift she once thought herself ready to give up forever.
Brynn our protagonist is dealing with the death of her husband and the grief that has taken hold of her but throughout the story we see her grow and I loved the family dynamics including Dog a crow and Faustus a Maine Coon. I liked the authors descriptive writing and because of this I was pulled into the story right away.  I read in about 6 hours.

I really enjoyed this book, there was Mystery as well as Magic! There were lots of twists, turns, as well as  The characters are well developed and story well written, I highly recommend to fellow Cozy Mystery fans who enjoy a bit of magic and paranormal thrown in. Cant wait to read When the Crows Away!

Barista Bump Off by Tonya Kappes

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing "Barista Bump Off" the11th instalment in the A Killer Coffee Mystery Series by Tonya Kappes.  I was so happy to visit Honey Springs Kentucky again, as I love this series.
Welcome to the Bean Hive Coffeehouse where the coffee and gossip are HOT!

ROBBERY TAKES A DEADLY TURN

Life couldn't be better! I've got a great husband, getting along with my ex and his new wife, plus I own a very successful coffeehouse! And...there just might be an addition to the family on the horizon, but my lips are sealed. - ROXY BLOOM

Dahlin' things can change in the blink of an eye. Even in an idyllic tourist destination like Honey Springs.

A string of purse snatchings along the boardwalk has left one victim dead.
locals, Loretta Bebe and Maxine Bloom, have joined forces to make Sheriff Shepard and the Mayor accountable for the crimes. After all, they too were victims.

Dedicated to her community and the safety of her customers, super sleuth Roxy Bloom is determined to track down this ruthless purse snatcher before someone else is bumped off.

As always a Tonya’s stories are filled with humour, wonderful characters and a mystery to solve.  I love visiting Honey Springs and the Bee Hive and this time we have a 15yr old bird named Polly from the Pet Palace to love on.

The mystery is interesting and well plotted, I did figure it out before the reveal but that didn’t stop me from going along for the ride. I loved the interaction with Roxy, Aunt Maxie, and Sheriff Shepard.

The story moves at a steady pace, and I had a hard time putting it down thus I finished it in a few hours.  Please note you could read as a stand alone, but you will want to read them all in order.

I cant wait to take another trip to Honey Springs, Kentucky, to see whats new with Roxy and her friends. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading cozy mysteries.

The Burning Pages A Scottish Bookshop Mystery by Paige Shelton

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing "The Burning Pages” the 7th instalment in the "Scottish Bookshop Mystery” series by Paige Shelton.  I really enjoy this series and have started collecting in hardcover.
Delaney Nichols faces off against an elusive arsonist in the seventh Scottish Bookshop Mystery, The Burning Pages, from beloved author Paige Shelton....

One winter's night, bookseller Delaney Nichols and her coworker Hamlet are invited to a Burns Night dinner, a traditional Scottish celebration of the poet Robert Burns. She's perplexed by the invitation, but intrigued. The dinner takes place at Burns House itself, a tiny cottage not far from the Cracked Spine bookshop but well hidden. There, it becomes clear that Delaney and Hamlet were summoned in an attempt to make amends between Edwin, Delaney's boss, and one of the other invitees, who suspected Edwin for burning down his own bookshop twenty years ago after a professional disagreement.

But after the dinner, there’s another fire. The Burns House itself is burned to the ground, and this time there’s a body among the ruins. When Hamlet is accused of the crime, Delaney rushes to prove his innocence, only to discover that he might actually have a plausible motive...

I loved visiting Edinburgh, Scotland and the Cracked Spine book shop again. The story is full of quirky characters with fortune tellers, and buskers set amongst a beautiful setting in old Edinburgh. I liked how this time we were exploring Robbie Burns and Hamlets background.

There were several possible suspects, and kept me guessing for quite a while. I was drawn into this story right away and did not want to put it down.

Overall, I found it to be a very entertaining read that made me long to visit Scotland and read more about poet Robbie Burns.

I highly  recommend this book to all my cozy lover friends.

Three Shots to the Wind by Sherry Harris

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing Three Shots to the Wind by Sherry Harris the 3rd instalment in the "Chloe Jackson, Sea Glass Saloon Mystery" series. What can I say other than I loved it even more than the first two books!   I read it in one day, couldn’t put it down.
Former Chicago librarian Chloe Jackson loving her new life as a bartender in Florida…until a surprise visit from her Windy City ex-fiancĂ© ends with him blown away in the Panhandle!

DEAD EXES TELL NO TALES

Saloon owner Chloe Jackson appears to have a secret admirer. She’s pouring drinks at the Sea Glass Saloon in Emerald Cove when an airplane flies by above the beach with a banner reading I LOVE YOU CHLOE JACKSON. She immediately rules out Rip Barnett. They are in the early stages of dating and no one has said the L word. Then a bouquet of lilacs—her favorite flower—is delivered to the bar, followed by an expensive bottle of her favorite sparkling wine. It couldn’t be…

Sure enough, her ex-fiancĂ© from Chicago has flown down to Florida for an accountants’ convention. But is he trying to mix business with pleasure and win her back? Unfortunately he’s not in a hotel conference room, he’s floating facedown in the lake next to her house, clutching a photo of Chloe. Who murders an accountant on a business trip—it just doesn’t add up. When Rip becomes the prime suspect, Chloe is determined to find the secret murderer. But if she isn’t careful, it may be closing time and lights out for her…
I found myself engrossed in the story and I love the setting of Emerald Cove, Florida panhandle.  The way the author described it really makes me want to live there or at least visit. I could picture myself sitting in Chloe’s screened in porch with a sweet tea and a good book or taking walks along the beach.

The protagonist Chloe is a very likeable and we are starting to see new layers to the main side characters especially Vivi.

The mystery had just enough suspects, red herrings, and twists and turns to keep you guessing till the end. I found it to be a fun fast read. I am looking forward to seeing what is next for Chloe and Vivi.

I highly recommend this series to all my cozy loving friends.

Death by Chocolate Chip Cupcake by Sarah Graves

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing “Death by Chocolate Chip Cupcake” is the 4th instalment in the "Death By Chocolate" mystery series by Sarah Graves.
In the quaint island village of Eastport, Maine, Jacobia “Jake” Tiptree and Ellie White run the Chocolate Moose bakery, where delicious treats take the spotlight—but murder sometimes gets a walk-on role . . .

Jake and Ellie are taking a break from perfecting their chocolate pizza recipe to cater a housewarming party hosted by movie icon Ingrid Merryfield. Miss Merryfield is famous for her old-Hollywood glamour. Her new home, Cliff House, has a reputation too—for being haunted. But she isn’t concerned, and some of her guests even try to summon a spirit during the party, using a Ouija board. What arrives instead is a freak autumn storm that downs an ancient tree, trapping everyone on the property and setting the stage for a killer’s planned spree.

Though Jake and Ellie don’t intend to get stirred into the mix, there’s no avoiding it—especially when they witness one of the guests being shoved over the very precipice that gave Cliff House its forbidding name.

Jake and Ellie begin sifting through suspects and motives, a search that takes them from a long-lost family graveyard to a wise old herbalist’s deceptively-sweet cottage and finally to Cliff House’s overgrown gardens. Is there some ghostly presence involved—or a flesh-and-blood villain? And either way, can they ensure that they avoid meeting their very own, very permanent Hollywood ending?

Includes a Recipe!

I enjoy this series set in the village of Eastport, Maine and really like protagonist Jake and her BFF Ellie. Plus I love her family especially Bella.  We meet a loveable Irish Wolfhound named Igor who we will hopefully see in future books.

There were plenty of suspects amongst the guests at Cliff House and plenty of twists and turns to keep me wanting to find out what will happen next. I did suspect the killer early on but then second guessed myself. The book was engaging from start to finish, grabbing your attention from the very beginning.

I highly recommend this series to all my cozy friends.

A Matter of Hive and Death by Nancy Coco

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing "A Matter of Hive and Death ” the 2nd instalment in the "Oregon Honeycomb" Mystery series by Nancy Coco. I LOVE this series!

When a bee wrangler is bludgeoned, Let It Bee honey shop owner Wren Johnson makes it her beeswax to solve the crime . . .

For the picturesque town of Oceanview on the Oregon Coast, May brings blossoming fruit trees and the annual UFO festival. As Aunt Eloise tries out alien costumes on their Havana brown cat Everett, Wren is off to meet with a bee wrangler, her go-to guy for local fruit tree honey.

But when she arrives, Elias Brentwood is lying on the ground amidst destroyed hives and a swarm of angry bees. The bees didn’t kill him, a blow to the head did. As blue-eyed Officer Jim Hampton investigates and the town is invaded by its own swarm of conspiracy theorists and crackpots, Wren and Aunt Eloise decide the only way to catch the bee wrangler’s killer is to set up a sting . . .

Praise For Nancy Coco and Her Candy-Coated Mysteries

“A fun and fast-paced cozy mystery that would be perfect for a weekend in, under cozy blankets with a mug of hot cocoa.”
—Criminal Element

“A puzzling series of crimes . . . plenty of suspects and mouthwatering recipes.”
—Kirkus Reviews

“I will be counting down the days until the next mystery with Allie McMurphy.”
—Cozy Mystery Book Reviews

I love visiting the Oregon Coast even if only in a book. I really enjoyed this story, and loved that it features a cat named Everett.   Throw in a UFO festival as well as bee hive vandalism you have the makings of a great whodunnit!  Plus the bonus of honey recipes at the end of each chapter was a nice addition.

The mystery is interesting and well plotted, and I loved the characters of Wren, Porsche, Aunt Eloise and Officer Jim Hampton. I kept guessing and second-guessing myself on whodunnit right to the very end.   I think there is a definite romance blooming too.

I highly recommend this book to all my cozy lover friends.

Mining for Murder by Mary Angela

Hello my cozy friends,

Today I am reviewing Mining for Murder by Mary Angela book 3 in the “A Happy Camper Mystery” series.  What a great book I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Zo Jones is enjoying the sunny season at her Happy Camper gift shop in Spirit Canyon, South Dakota—when a murder reminds her all that glitters isn’t gold . . .

The South Dakota Gold Rush might be long over, but Zo Jones feels like she’s hit the mother lode when she and her friends browse an estate sale, where a rare old book about the history of Spirit Canyon is causing quite a commotion. In addition to local stories and secrets, the book may even contain the location of a famous stash of gold—a treasure worth killing for.

Zo’s friend Maynard Cline wins the bid on the book, to the chagrin of many interested parties, including the historical society and college history department. But when Zo and Hattie head to Maynard’s mansion to borrow the book for a library event, the only thing they find is Maynard—at the bottom of the mountain. The valuable book is gone. Zo knows this must be murder because there’s no way a germophobe like Maynard would have voluntarily dived into a pile of dirt. Now she’ll have to dig into a new case, and go prospecting for a perpetrator . . .

The story pulled me in right away, I was so engrossed in it that I read way into the night. I found myself becoming invested in what happened to Zo, Jule, and Max as they are likeable characters even though they ate so different from each other they just work well together.  I love grumpy “George” the Maine Coon cat and “Scout” the German Shepard.

I like how there were several stories woven into this mystery but they flowed seamlessly together. We follow along while Zo searches for more information on her mother and what she finds is a surprise.

The mystery itself was well plotted, entertaining, full of twists and turns as well as a few surprises at the end.

I cant wait for the next  instalment in this series, I highly recommend this to cozy lovers.

The Incident of the Book in the Nighttime by Vicki Delany

Hello my cozy friends, Today I am reviewing “ The Incident of the Book in the Nighttime” the 10th instalment in "A Sherlock Holmes Book...
