Today I am reviewing "Mrs. Morris and the Day of the Dead" the 11th and final instalment in the Salem B&B Mystery series by Traci Wilton.  This is my favourite one so far, it had so much feels and I just loved it!

I love visiting Salem and Charlene’s B&B with its resident ghost Jack and her B&B family.  I love all the characters Charlene, Jack, Minnie, Sam and Avery. This time around it’s Halloween weekend and she has a crystal healer Isabella Perez wanting help finding her missing sister.

The mystery was interesting, well plotted, with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing till the very end. I don’t want to give away any spoilers but I definitely was surprised by the ending and sad that this is the last in the series.  I definitely had tears in my eyes.

 I highly recommend this book to all my cozy lover friends.

Laying Down the Latte by Ellie Alexander

Today I am reviewing "Laying Down the Latte" the 21st instalment in the A Bakeshop Mystery series by Ellie Alexander.

Another delicious installment in the Bakeshop Series set in Ashland, Oregon!

Baker Jules Capshaw, along with her husband, Carlos, and Torte’s resident barista, Andy, are packing their bags and preparing for the ultimate coffee excursion in Costa Rica. A fortuitous invitation from one of Carlos’s former colleagues, Valentina, has them venturing to the coffee capital of the world for a tasting tour and an immersive weekend at her family's organic coffee farm.

They soak in the tropical breezes, the vibrant colors, the sounds of morning birdsong, and the sweeping views of the historic coffee farm. Valentina is the ultimate host, offering them traditional meals and thrilled to have their input as she’s preparing to open a coffee counter and bakery on the farm.

The getaway is just what Jules needed. A chance to relax and unwind, curl up with a book and iced latte by the pool, and tinker in Valentina’s kitchen, dreaming up new recipes to bring home. Except her tranquil weekend quickly turns into a nightmare when one of Valentina’s employees is found dead in the pulping machine. Now, Jules will have to put her vacation on hold to try and uncover the murderer before one of Torte's beloved workers becomes the next body thrown into the mix.

This time around we visit Costa Rica and one of Jules and Carlos old friends Valentina’s organic coffee farm.  Andy is in his element among all the coffee beans and learning about the growing process until one of Valentina’s employees is found dead in the pulping machine.

I really enjoyed this story, seeing how the Torte family is adapting to Jules having twins, new staff and how the business is expanding its horizons.  The mystery is interesting and well plotted, and there were just enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. Needless to say I cant wait for the next book “The Whisking Hour”  available on February 24, 2026.

I recommend this book to all my cozy lover friends.

Archie's character is masterfully crafted - a spirited, mercurial individual beloved by his family and community, yet with secrets and a troubled past. Jimmy's personal connection to the victim adds depth to the story, and his partnership with Willow is showcased beautifully.

The plot is twisty and engaging, with multiple leads and suspects keeping me guessing. Although I had a suspicion about the killer's identity early on, the journey was full of surprises and challenges that kept me invested. Following the clues was satisfying, and Cleeves's writing made the story feel immersive and authentic. A compelling read that showcases Cleeves's mastery of the genre!
